Fix it or stop advertising

Hi Google.  Glad to see that we have made NO PROGRESS in well over a year.  Certainly none this month.

As a former Google Chrome user (yes former) I'd like to request you stop promoting your carelessly broken browser everywhere.  Now that I'm using Safari more (yeah, not a huge fan, but at least I can read everything) all I see are ads for Chrome.

Do you know what would be better?  Make your ads unreadable.  Make it real.  Use the boxes in the background.  Get creative.  Make sure everyone knows that Google Chrome stands for quality, and gibberish.  Maybe call it quibberish.

Anyone else making a browser should absolutely take advantage of this and advertise their browser in the following way:

• Ad opens - nothing but lines of gibberish
• Interrupted by tagline:  Missing Something?
• Browser X - Because the Internet is for readers.  (do another one for lovers, etc).

If I can read your page, its automatically better than Google Chrome.  Your browser can be awful, but if I can actually read web pages, it is automatically better.  Run with it!  

If you ignore them, they will go away

Hi Google.  Having fun ignoring us?  I know you must be.  Either that or you are using your own browser while reading this blog. Well just in case you can read this, I wanted to highlight this problem that has been discussed (and ignored) ad nauseum on your very own boards:

I've been having a very annoying font display problem with Chrome for the past few months. Some text shows up as square gibberish characters. I see that a lot of other users are having this issue as well but no one seems to be correcting the issue in Chrome. I've attached a screenshot.

The issue is most prevalent on google pages or on check out pages on various sites. Certain people's emails also seem to come through in gibberish if they are using a particular font other than the default.

I've tried viewing the page source and unchecking the font property for various elements and that seems to be a temporary fix. Obviously I don't want to do that every time I see this on a page. I've tried quitting my font management program. I've tried turning off certain fonts like Arial or Droid Sans and turning them back on again. Nothing works!

Can someone please finally help resolve this issue?

this is the second time it happens, last time i had to mess around with the google chrome system files to reset my profile, and restore my bookmarks. its kind of annoying especially since i cant even navigate to mess around with the settings. i would appreciate some help to know the cause and stop it from recurring.

things affected: everything within the browser including the right click menu. webpages display normally. and URL displays normally. preview/hovering over bookmarks also display properly.

im running windows XP, i have windows 7 at home, and i have an android phone. not sure if this is relevant however there seems to be some sort of link since i bookmarked a page on my phone, and it added it on my windows XP chrome browser.

Hey, why not?  It's not like reading text is actually important when using the web.  As long as you can read what is important.  Take my background picture for instance.  That was a google search using chrome for "Google chrome sucks".  And you can definitely read that.

Keep up the great work Chrome developers.   Or as we say in the Chrome World: gibberish in a series of interconnected boxes.  Wait, you can actually read that.  Maybe asdfafdaafaswhich actually renders as a series of gibberish in a series of interconnected boxes on my computer...today...at this hour.  

Thank's for getting on top of fixing that.  I'm sure science will find a cure for cancer first.  

If you can read this, you probably aren't using Google Chrome

You might be wondering why I would start a blog about the type rendering issue in Google Chrome on the Macintosh platform.  You might be wondering why I'm not spending my time contacting the developers and trying to get them to resolve the issue.  

Well, to put it bluntly:

THE DEVELOPERS OF GOOGLE CHROME DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THIS ISSUE.  THEY DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS THAT THEIR USER BASE HAS THIS PROBLEM.  OBVIOUSLY BEING ABLE TO ACTUALLY READ A SITE IS OVER-RATED AND SHOULD NOT IN FACT BE A CRITICAL ISSUE TO THOSE USING GOOGLE CHROME.

So here is a blog dedicated not just to this issue, but to point out that the developers are lazy, good for nothing bastards who just have more critical issues to deal with than making sure their browser actually works.  

See, once upon a time this issue happened and Google immediately released a patch to fix it.  Then they reintroduced the issue and now don't seem to care.  This has been ongoing for over a year.  Do you think Google cares?  FUCK NO!  

So I invite you to post your Google Chrome hatred here.  Please do!  Give us suggestions for better browsers.  Tell us how Google Chrome has made your life worse.  How they are spying on you or whatever.  Its all good here. 

And if you are a developer of Google Chrome, I have just four words for you: FUCK YOU TOO BUDDY!  At least now we both understand one another.  I don't care and CLEARLY neither do you.
